Here it is – mamihlapinata. The name of this blog refers to ‘mamihlapinatapai’ and comes from the yaghan language – which is spoken by indigenous people in South America. Mamihlapinatapai implies ‘a look shared by two people, each wishing that the other would initiate something that they both desire but which neither wants to begin’. I fell in love with both – the outer form and the inner meaning of this word… even if it doesn’t interrelate with the content of this blog.
I’ve never had a blog so I guess this is my opportunity to share my thoughts with you – how I experience life, especially traveling, art and photography. I’m Lucy, 23 years old, and I live in Cologne, Germany. I was born in South Africa and for this reason I’ve got two nationalities on my passport. I love to travel, I’ve always had this yen to see distant places – even if it is only for a few days. Also, I always had a thing for art, i paint on canvas, sketch and illustrate. Just give me a pencil and paper – and I’m happy.
Gradually there will be more posts about different topics – poetry, fashion, design and whatever will come across my way. I’m always open for your thoughts, opinions or criticism. Tell me what is on your mind. 🙂
